Saif Ali Khan Attack: Mumbai Police arrest accused from Thane in actor’s stabbing case; suspect alleged for using multiple names

In the early hours of Sunday, a man was arrested in Thane as a suspect for allegedly attacking actor Saif Ali Khan at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai Police reported. The suspect believed to be the prime accused, was taken into custody following the incident that occurred on Thursday. The accused, identified as Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, had changed his name to Vijay Das after illegally entering India.

The Mumbai Police have revealed intriguing details about the accused, who is known by multiple aliases, including Vijay Das, Bijoy Das, and Mohammed Iliyas. It has been confirmed that he had previously worked at a pub. The only other information about him has come from statements made by Saif’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, and their maid, Eliyamma Philips.

Eliyamma, who was the first to spot the intruder, described him as skinny, dark-complexioned, in his late 30s. He was approximately five feet five inches tall.” Kareena referred to him as “very aggressive.” CCTV footage from the building captured the suspect ascending the staircase with his face covered by a scarf. He was later seen exiting with his face exposed.

Further surveillance footage showed the accused boarding a local train at Bandra station and later purchasing earphones near Dadar station. The accused is set to be presented in court today for remand, according to Mumbai Police.

The violent incident left Saif with stab wounds to his thoracic spine after an altercation with the intruder. The attacker confronted the actor’s maid in the early hours of Thursday. Saif intervened and was subsequently attacked, resulting in a serious confrontation. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for immediate treatment.

Saif Ali Khan’s health updates

According to hospital officials, Saif is in stable condition and has been moved from the ICU to a regular room. The surgery to remove a 2.5-inch blade was successful. He is currently out of danger, medical staff are continuing to monitor his recovery closely.

Family members Kareena, Karisma Kapoor, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Sara Ali Khan, sisters Soha and Saba Ali Khan, and mother Sharmila Tagore, have been visiting Saif at the hospital.
